Make Your Own Gentle Facial Products Using Natural Ingredients

by Aileen Fitzharris

Maintaining proper skin care is an essential part of healthy skin, so if proper care isn't taken and our skin becomes damaged or injured, we become more vulnerable to infection and disease. However, since traditional skin care products can be harsh, especially for sensitive and dry skin, we sometimes end up creating a skin care routine that endangers our skin instead of caring for it.

Most cleansers and toners contain chemicals that can can strip natural oils away from your skin leaving it vulnerable to foreign matter. Traditional moisturizers may contain alcohol and mineral oil. Both ingredients can dry out your skin; while the latter can also clog pores and lead to acne breakouts.

Fortunately, there is a gentler way to deal with problems such skin wrinkles and hyperpigmentation and that is treating your skin with natural ingredients, most of which can be found in your own home. In fact, you can actually create natural facial products with products that are sitting in your refrigerator or even your backyard. If you're willing to give it a try, here are a few fun skin care recipes.

Natural Cleansers

There are literally dozens of recipes for making natural cleansers at home. None of these recipes include processed ingredients. Therefore, you shouldn't have any adverse effects unless you are allergic to one of the ingredients.

Yogurt and oatmeal can be used as a cleanser. Make a paste with these two ingredients and apply to the face with a massaging motion. Leave it there for a few minutes and then rinse off with warm water. Pat skin dry and apply a natural moisturizer.

Cooked vegetables can be pureed and used as a mild cleanser. The water that was used to cook the vegetables can be used to make the paste. Once you get the consistency you're looking for you can apply the paste to your skin, then rinse off with warm water, and finally, pat your skin dry before applying a natural moisturizer.

Vegetable oil is another great natural cleanser. This solution is ideal for dry or mature skin, and works in much the same way as cold cream.

If you'd like to use olive oil, simply try mixing 1 part honey with 1 part olive oil and two parts distilled water. Apply the mixture to your face and let it set for a few minutes. Wipe it off with a damp, warm cloth.

Natural Exfoliators

Exfoliation can be rough on sensitive and dry skin. However, natural ingredients can help without provoking any damage.

One of the most common natural exfoliators is milk. Dairy products help provide hydration as they remove debris and dead skin cells.

Other great exfoliation recipes include mashed bananas, grapefruit and oatmeal, and a baking soda and water mix. In each case, the mixture should form a paste which is applied to your skin. Let the mixture set for a few minutes and then wipe off with a moist washcloth.

Natural Anti Aging Cream

Whether you believe it or not, your cupboard can also be a good place to find facial products for wrinkles. For example, you can mix 1/2 tablespoon of ground nutmeg with 1 tablespoon of honey to form a paste. Apply the mixture to your skin, let set for 20 minutes, and remove with warm water and a washcloth. All these ingredients came from your cupboard and can safely be used on your skin.

Natural skin care is one of the best ways to treat your skin, but even though homemade recipes are fun, they don't always reach the level of effectiveness that can be achieved using higher concentrations of certain natural ingredients. In retrospect, this means that one drop of natural oil isn't as effective as 1000 drops. This is why you can't ignore the importance of natural skin care creams such as BIOBALM. This amazing natural wrinkle cream contains a perfect balance of Helix Aspersa Muller extract and strawberry seed oil. This precise blend of natural ingredients creates a wonderful product that can effectively moisturize your skin and help combat aging.
